| Blackjack – General Tips
| |
| Don't know when to hit or to stay put? Here are some basic tips to keep you on the plus side. | |
| · Never hit a hand higher than hard 17. | |
| · Never stand on a hand of 11 or less -- your hand can only improve by taking another card. | |
| · Always split Aces. Always split 8s. | |
| · Never split 4s, 5s, 6s, or 10s. | |
| · As a rule of thumb, assume that the dealer's down card has a value of 10. | |
| · Never Surrender -- why go down without a fight? | |
| · Always split 8s unless the dealer's up card is 9 or 10. | |
| · Give strong consideration to doubling down in all situations where you have 10 or 11. | |
| · Never risk busting if the dealer's up card is a 3, 4, 5 or 6. | |
| · It is rarely correct to stand on a total of soft 17. | |
| · Remember that every face card that comes up tilts the remaining deck slightly in the house's favor and every 3, 4, 5, or 6 that comes out tilts the remaining deck slightly in the player's favor. | |
| · If many Aces are dealt early, bet conservatively, since there are fewer of these highly favorable cards remaining to be dealt. | |
