| Crib The "extra hand" that alternates between players. Each player is dealt six cards and discards two into the crib; therefore, each hand has four cards and so does each crib. The dealer always has the crib.
Double Skunk When a losing player scores 60 or fewer points, they are Double-Skunked. The player loses four stakes.
Flush All four cards in a hand (or in a crib) in the same suit: Hearts, Spades, Clubs, or Diamonds.
Go If it's your turn and you can't play a card without sending the count over 31, it's a Go, and your opponent gets 1 point. If your opponent can still play cards, they do so. If your opponent can't, the count starts over at 0, and play continues.
His Heels The starter card is a Jack, and the dealer gets 2 points on the board.
His Nobs If you have the Jack in the same suit as the starter card, you get 1 point when scoring your hand or crib.
Pair Two of a Kind, either played consecutively or in the same hand or crib (two 2s, two 5s, etc.).
Pair Royal Three of a Kind.
Run of Four Four cards in a row, such as a 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Run of Three Three cards in a row, such as a 10, Jack, and Queen.
Skunk A losing player is skunked when they score from 90 to 61 points. The player loses two stakes. See also Double Skunk.
Stakes The number of points the game is worth. By default, each game is worth 2 points.
Starter Card The card that is turned over from the deck after both players contribute to the crib. The starter card is ignored during play, but it counts as the fifth card of each hand and the crib during scoring. | |
