·          The most useful pieces in the game, aside from the single block, are the two-block piece and the three-block angle. If one of these pieces shows up on the conveyor, and you don’t absolutely need to use it, allow it to roll to the end and save it for later use. Smaller shapes will be critically important when there is no more room to place larger pieces.

·          Some levels require you to load multiple train cars, side-by-side. Note, however, that the timer for each car only starts when you place the first piece on it; if you concentrate on one car until there are no pieces on the conveyor which will fit there, and then start loading the second car, you can save valuable time and thereby improve your average.

·          Remember that the conveyor belt is always moving, even when a train is rolling forward to allow you to load the next car. If you’re getting dangerously close to filling the conveyor, toss a couple of wider pieces into the Cargo Return while you are waiting for the next car to pull up. (If there is only one train on the level, you won’t even accumulate any penalty time for discarding these pieces, since the previous car’s timer has stopped and the next car’s hasn’t started yet.)

·          Time is more important than elegance. If you’re on the last train car of the level and you have a five-block shape still open, instead of waiting for the perfect piece to roll down the conveyor, just plug the shape with a smaller piece and fill in with singles. You could even use five singles if you have them available. Get that car loaded as quickly as possible!

·          Your overall load time for a level is averaged. Therefore, if you take too long to load one car, you can make up for it by loading another car in less time than the maximum average limit. If, for example, you have to discard a few pieces to keep from filling the conveyor, or forget that you’ve started one train car while you concentrate on the other one, don’t panic. Just work faster on the next car and try to lower your average to a passing time.
