How to handle a player using offensive or foul language at a game table

MSN Games is a friendly gaming community with an established Code of Conduct that all players must follow.

Turn on chat filter

If a player is using offensive language in a game room or lobby or at a game table, you can turn on chat filter options, so you will not see this language.

Step 1

In the game room or lobby or at a game table, click the box with the check mark next to the smiley face emoticon.

Step 2

In Message Options, check Remove detectable offensive language. You can also check the option to Turn off all Chat.

Step 3

Click OK.

Turn off all chat

If a player has become disruptive at a game table, you can turn off the chat, so you will no longer view offensive material.

Step 1

In the game room or lobby or at a table, click the box with the check mark next to the smiley face emoticon.

Step 2

In the Message Options, check Turn off all chat.

Step 3

Click OK.

Silence watchers or kibitzers

Bridge tables have the option to silence players observing a game. After enabling these options, you will no longer view watchers’ or kibitzers’ chat messages. However, watchers and kibitzers will still be able to see your chat messages.

Step 1

Start your game.

Step 2

Click on the Options button in the game.

Step 3

Check the Silent Kibitz option, then select the Silence options in the Allow Observers section.

Step 4

Now you will no longer view observers’ messages.

Remove watchers or kibitzers

All watchers or kibitzers will be shut out of the game if any player turns off the option to permit kibitzing or watching. When watchers or kibitzers are barred from your game, your game table will display the No Observers icon.

Step 1

Start your game.

Step 2

Click the Options button in the game.

Step 3

Uncheck the Kibitz option then select No in the Allow Observers section.

Step 4

Any player observing your game will be removed, and your game table will display the No Observers icon in the game room.

Remove a player from a game table

Bridge game tables have an option to remove a player. To use this option, follow these steps.

Step 1

In the game, click Options.

Step 2

Click Remove by the disruptive player's name to remove the player from the game table. Click the Remove button that contains the disruptive player's name.

Start a new game

If you are hosting a game and have problems with a player who has joined your table, you can ask the player to leave before you launch the game. If the disruptive player refuses to leave, start a new game at another table.

Prevent players from joining a game

A Bridge game host (the person who started the game) can prevent other users from joining by following these steps:

Step 1

In the game, click Options.

Step 2

Click No in the Allow Joiners section.

Find friendly people to play with

The best way to avoid disruptive players is to build a network of friends and invite them into private games. Also, you may locate specific rooms where friendly people are playing.

Leave a game

If an opponent becomes disruptive during a game, does not play by the agreed-upon rules (for instance, kills their own teammates), or “stalls” the table, simply quit and start a new game.

Remember, "It's only a game"

MSN Games is a great community, and there are many fun-filled games to be played, puzzles to be solved, and new friends to be found. Don't let a few immature people spoil your fun. Just remember, it's only a game.
