Note: To re-enable any software you turn off, you just need to restart your computer system. If you need assistance disabling this software, contact the software manufacturer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Restart your system

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some programs may have problems closing if they have been used recently. Restart your system by following these steps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Close all open windows and disconnect from the Internet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Restart the computer by clicking Start, and then Shutdown, and selecting Restart. Click OK to restart the computer.

 

 

 

 

 

Disable programs in the System Tray

 

 

 

 

 

 

Before connecting to the Internet, quit any unnecessary programs that are running on your computer system. To disable any programs currently running on your system, follow these steps:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1: When starting your computer system, you may have programs installed that automatically load. These programs usually place icons in the system tray (the area next to the clock on the taskbar) when the software is enabled. Locate the software icons in the system tray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click the software icon with the right mouse button and a pop-up menu should appear.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the pop-up menu, there should be an option to turn off this software. Examples of options include Disable, Exit, Close, and Quit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click the option to turn off this software.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quit unnecessary programs currently running on your system

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once you have disabled this software, check to see if other software is running on your computer system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Press the CTRL, ALT, and DELETE keys all at once to open the Windows Security window.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click Task Manager or Start Task Manager button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On the Applications tab, you will see a list of programs that are currently running on your system. To turn off a program, click on it once to highlight it, and then click End Task. You may receive another message stating the system is busy. When this message appears, click End Task again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Repeat Step 3 until no programs appear in this box.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 5

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click the Processes tab. You will see all other programs or processes running on your system. Try turning off some of these processes, especially any processes that contain your profile under User Name. To turn off these processes, click a process to highlight it and then End Process. Do not turn off Explorer.exe, which is Windows.

 

 

 

 

 

Quit unnecessary Internet programs

 

 

 

 

 

 

When you connect to the Internet, Internet programs may also automatically open on your computer. Turn these programs off before connecting to MSN Games, by following these steps:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click the software icon with the right mouse button and a pop-up menu should appear.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the pop-up menu, there should be an option to turn off this software. Examples of options are: Disable, Exit, Close, and Quit.

Click the option to turn off this software. Note: Be careful not to turn off software that connects your computer system to the Internet.
